Text Diagramming a History of Visualization

In response to reading A Brief History of Data Visualization — by Michael Friendly (in Handbook of Data Visualization, 2008), I synthesized this chapter by making a text diagram. I was inspired to use a vertical layout from this chart representing the evolution of hominids. However, the vertical timeline I use goes down as history progresses.
